Diesel's  Annual Draft Review 2022

(aka - Campbeltown Loch is clearly whisky ! )

There are many things in this world I don't understand; for example, why is there only one Monopolies Commission? Why is Scotland unique in that the football team you support and the political stance you take is based upon the religion of your Great Granny? Why do so many murderers continue with their cunnig nefarious plans when Hercule Poirot is sleeping in a room along the corridor? I mean, if you were invited to a weekend in Garioch Towers and were intent on doing away with Lord Rickaby whilst you were there, and the Belgian slueth was also invited for the duration, you wouldn't, would you? You would just say to yourself "Nope, another time, I'll do it when that wee shite is not present". But no, they continue with their plans, and regardless of how well they've thought it out, in the end they always get caught by the weefla. So why do I do mock drafts? What is the point? Did anyone see the lemmings-off-a-cliff rush for RBs coming on Sunday? The Commish has it in some detail on the ALFF page, but we should realise that in any draft that sees Cordarrelle Patterson go before Tom Brady and Isaiah Pacheco gets chosen twenty three picks before Aaron Rodgers, you know the weirdometer is off the scale. My own plan was, as always, to pick the best runnings backs available on the board with my first two picks, then feast on the multiude of receivers that are usually available in R3 &R4... by the time I got to my second pick (pick twenty overall), seventeen  RBs had gone, and the best one left and available was a quarterback!
Anyway, usual shite, four grades for all positions, in order: QB/RB/WR-TE/ K, then an overall assessment of your rankings followed by the NFL Fantasy ranking (in brackets) and chances (or lack of them) for post season participation.

BON ACCORD DIVISION.

Argyll Apaches:
The big egg basket that was labelled "Cleveland Browns" last season has been rebranded "Baltimore Ravens" for this one. Still, that's a big step in the right direction for Geronimo. Ekeler needs to stay healthy.
QB:C+. RB:D. WR:A- K: D. O/A:C.
Ranking: Diesel Ranking: 8 NFL Fantasy Ranking:12

Scunthorpe Steelers:
It'll come as zero surprise that Adamski has the highest ranked running game in the league, but that comes with some concerns, so there is a slight adjust made there to the overall ranking (O/A) as Cam Akers just does not look game ready and JK Dobbins has serious fitness issues to contend with. Still, I'm sure the last person that Coach Meek thought he would get to pick at #1 was Patrick Mahommes.
QB:C+. RB:A+. WR:C. K:A+. O/A B-.
DR:6. NFR:5

Wellington Rising:
They seem to be the popular favourites according to The Commish, Little Plum & the NFL fantasy people, but already they are staring down the barrel of a gun for a week one upset loss.... I'm not as convinced as others.... but they will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. But Robbie Gould....?
QB:A. RB:A. WR:C- K:D-. O/A: A+.
DR:1. NFR:1

Two Minute Drillers;
The Diesel has predicted doom and gloom for the Commish before, and has always ended up with egg on his face, so I'll quit while I'm behind.... soft boiled, three minutes please!
QB:C-. RB:C-. WR:C-. K:B.  O/A:C-.
DR:9. NFR:10

Div Winners: Wellinton Rising
Wild Cards: Scunthorpe Steelers, Argyll Apaches

GRANITE DIVISION.

Arnhall Dolphins:
Nobody has mentioned  Madfish as possible Bowl winners, but the Diesel is, but with the caveat that McCaffrey stays healthy.... maybe I should get Donnie & Jim to do my draft next year. Howzat!
QB:B-. RB:A-.  WR:A+. K:C. O/A:A-
DR:3. NFR:9

Craigo Cayotes :
Well I'll go the foot of my stairs! Actually, the foot of Marty's stairs to be more precise... Alan can be grateful that Coach MacDougall and his notoriously weak bladder weren't in attendance or he may not have lived to tell the tale!
QB:D. RB:C. WR:D. K:B+. O/A:D-
DR:11 NFR:8

Jesmond Chiefs:
Difficult draft this to categorise, and I admit I had to do a double take when the Dieselometer ranked them so low.... Herbert, Adams, Jones & Jacobs, shoorley shum mishtake here? Nope... an excellent first team if all stay healthy, but lack of depth may hurt the Chiefs this year.
QB:A+. RB:C. WR:D-. K:D. O/A:C-
DR:10. NFR:?

Kincorth Killers:
If he wins another Bowl, I'm emigrating. And he might just do that. G'day to ya Sheila....
QB:B. RB:B. WR:B-. K:B. O/A:A
DR:2 NFR:2

Div Winners: Kincorth Killers
Wild Cards: Arnhall Dolphins/ Jesmond Chiefs (if they can stay healthy)

PITTODRIE DIVISION:

Caledonia Express: My personal opinion is that Marty should have ditched Kyler Murray ( or perhaps look for a swap down the line), and if he had dione that, he could have had Tyreek Hill or CeeDee Lamb who would have improved the team immensely.... but what do I know? The square root of diddlysquat, that's what.
QB:A-. RB:D-. WR:D-. K:A. O/A:D-
DR:12. NFR:?

Garthdee Gryphons:  Donnie in a Titan's bunnet? What next? Ian Paisley wearing a Celtic top? Me wishing Dunfermline besta luck for the new season?
QB: D-. RB:B. WR:A. K:D+. O/A:B
DR:5 NFR:?

Laurel Lions: James is going as far as the Bills QB will take him.... one could say that Allen is the key (geddit? geddit?).... I'm here all week, try the veal, next week it's Mike & Bernie, plenty tickets left.
QB: A+ . RB:C. WR:A. K:C+ O/A:C+
DR:7 NFR:3

Westburn Blades: Stuie's not going to have it all his own way this year in the BA Division, the Dieselometer has him and Garthdee ascloseasthis.... the winners of their F2F encounters will decide this league. Still, Coach Bothwell The Younger has form for grinding out close ones.
QB:C-. RB:B. WR:B. K:A. O/A:B
DR:4. NFR:8

Div Winners: Westburn Blades
Wild Cards: Garthdee Gryphons, Laural Lions (with Caveats)

Bowl Winners :
The Diesel is going for the Rising over the Killers, but if Adamski can get a full compliment of runners healthy, if Jimbo keeps on being Jimbo,if Lamar can find his  2020 form, if Josh A carries on his week #1 form, whether Cook, MacCaffrey, Henry, Berkley, Etienne, Edwards-Helaire, Zeke, Mostert stay injury free or DON'T stay injury free, if age catches up with Brady, if Ja'Marr Chase gets sussed out by Defensive Coaches etc etc etc, then all that will change.

Biggest Reach: Trey Lance 24 places before projected pick, ditto Evan McPherson.
Biggest Bargain: Patrick Mahomes seven places after pp, Deebo Samuels six, ditto Aaron Rodgers.

That's it!
