Diesel's  Annual Draft Review 2024

(aka the conscious stream ramblings of Campbeltown's top celebrity)

Apologies for the lateness of the draft review, but after paying 17 big ones for one small glass of Merlot in that there Londontown, I've been in therapy for a few days,... I'm getting better, but it's a slow process. It was great to see everyone again, all of us  one year older but not at all any wiser. So, withouf further ado, I've put a new set of AAs into the Dieselometer, so oft we jolly well go.

BON ACCORD:
Argyll Apaches:
No mental drafting of rookies with first and second picks.... a sensible but boring draft by Geronimo. Might be enough to get into the playoffs for the first time since Adam was wearing short trousers, then again....
QB: B
RB: B
WR:B-
K: B
Overall: #7

Arnhall Dolphins:
If you take three QBs in the first six rounds, then you better have the top ranked QB room.....but at what cost to the other skill positions?  Still, Pacheco and Montgomery look better than decent.
QB: A+
RB: B
WR: C
K: C
O/A: #5

Wellington Rising:
Jayden Daniels is the key here; if he plays well, Coach Butters will do well. If he turns out to be this years Bryce Young/Ryan Leaf or every QB ever drafted by Cleveland, thinks could get ugly down Kiwi Way.
QB: C
RB: C-
WR: A-
K: C
O/A: #9

2 Minute Drillers: Solid stuff from the Commish again, but I'd be worried about having Kirk Cousins as my QB2 (sez the man who has Daniel Jones as his)..... Not a lot to say really, but again in the Bon Accord, the Drilling Crew are the team to beat. Again
QB: B+
RB: A
WR: A-
K: A
O/A: 1

GRANITE:
Caledonia Express:
Personally, I've never understood why any Coach would draft a receiver in their first two picks if you haven't a QB already on the roster.... if one is of the opinion that a particular receiver will score hunners of points, draft the QB instead, and score more.  Nick Chubb needs to get healthy quick.
QB: B
RB: C-
WR: B
K: C
O/A: 6

Jesmond Chiefs:
Mahomes to Worthy could be a gold seam for Jesmond, but I'm perhaps damning with faint praise when I say the rest of the wideouts are "seasoned veterans". I've got to say this: Kyle Juszczyk ?
 QB: A
RB: C-
WR: C-
K: C
O/A: 12

Kincorth Killers:

Big shout out from Junior on drafting Dak Prescott in R#3 and therefore consigning Lawrence to the role of a very expensive back up. Time will tell if this was wise, given that Andrew could have drafted Aiyuk, Adams or Nico Collins and added quality to an already impressive receiver corps
QB: A+
RB: A-
WR: B+
K: A
O/A: #2

Scunthorpe Steelers:
Caleb Williams .... Adamski will be hoping that Williams won't be a bust, because the Chicago QB is surrounded by a lot of strength in the team. Big load, big responsibility resting on the shoulders of Williams.
QB: A
RB: A
WR: A-
K: B
O/A: #3

PITTODRIE:

Craigo Coyotes:
I think it would be safe to say this is Coach Rooney's best draft in his short tenure in the ALFF, but I look at the RB Corps and think "mmm". Still, when you can rack up 55 points in the season opener, trouncing the defending champs in the process. you've got to be optimistic
QB: A-
RB: C+
WR: C+
K: A
O/A: 8

Garthdee Gryphons:
See my comments re drafting wideouts too early, why not take Prescott? I like Kelce in R#3 tho'.tho'. The RB corps look "experienced", but if a few of them can regain past glories, watch out. And I'm looking at you, Josh Jacobs.
QB: C
RB: C
WR: C
K: B
O/A: #11

Laurel Lions:
I think taking Raheem Mostert  with the first pick was a folly, especially when Barkley, Robinson, Etienne were still on the board. If Mostert scores gets double digit TDs this year, I'll eat James' hat.  Brian Thomas was a steal tho' in R8. Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask, James.
QB: B
RB: C
WR: C
K: B
O/A: 10

Westburn Blades:
Stuie has always been a consistent drafter, no changes here. Taylor, Jefferson, LaPorta.... what's not to like? Nowt else to say, except Mrs Delaney from 8, Arcadia Avenue wants you to stop whistling when you drop her milk off.
QB: C
RB: B
WR: A-
K: B
O/A: 4

So Division winners to be Drillers, Killers & Blades. Dangerous wild card in the Steelers.
The Bowl winners will be one of the first two mentioned, and that'd be a repeat of last year.
Cash only please Commish. I'm done taking cheques.
